In this fourth part in our “How’s it Made??” series we take a look at a fairly new addition to the window blinds and solution market and indeed the latest product that Brighter Blinds Ltd has taken on to manufacture in house.
The Allusion blind was introduced to the market by Louvolite, after representatives from Louvolite came to demonstrate the product to the team at Brighter Blinds Ltd in Bury, it was decided that Brighter Blinds Ltd would become a manufacturer as well as retailer of the newly introduced Allusion Blind.
Brighter Blinds Ltd went on to purchase all the necessary equipment, tooling, components and stock to manufacture the Allusion Blinds in the factory based at Unit 1, Bolholt Works, Walshaw Road, Bury, BL8 1DQ.
The technical team from Louvolite then came and spent some time with the Brighter Blinds Ltd production and installations teams, training our staff in how to manufacture and eventually install the Allusion Blind.
The Allusion blind is sleek, stylish and gives an elegance to any room, the Allusion Blind is better suited to the larger windows and openings such as bi-fold doors or large picture windows, giving the user the option to control light flow whilst maintaining a certain level of privacy. The Allusion combines the practicality of a Vertical Blind with the warmth and elegance of a voile and curtain creating a timeless design feature.
So let’s take a look at the manufacturing process step by step.
1 – The Hardware
When the order arrives in production, a member of production staff picks the correct hardware from our stock, this includes the Head-rail which can be either with or without a fascia and also in a variety of colour ways including, white, black and anthracite. The correct number of carrier trucks, end caps and control units are also picked ready for assembly.
The Head-rail, with or without fascia, is measured to the required dimension with all relevant deductions and allowances being made, these measurements are marked on the Head-rail ready to be cut to size.
2 – Head-rail assembly
With the Head-rail being cut to the required size, the team then begins to assemble all components required eventually loading the components on to a tilt rod before inserting into the Head-rail.
The Head-rail system is now complete, packaged and ready to be installed.
3 – The Fabric.
The fabric collection comprises of two ranges, which are the Horizon and Vista FR, both ranges have a selection of colourways from Bright White to Midnight Black.
The requested fabric range and colourway is picked from our stocks ready to be made in to the Allusion vanes.
Fabric is loaded on to the specially designed cutting table where each vane is individually cut to size. Once the required amount of vanes have been cut they are now ready for finishing.
4 – The Fabric Finish
A buckram type piece of fabric is then heat pressed on to the top of each individual Allusion vane to give the vane stability and strength, this also allows for the top hanger to be attached prior to hanging the vanes on the carrier trucks within the Head-rail.
The Allusion vanes are now carefully packaged to prevent marking and these are now ready to be installed.
With both the Head-rail and Vanes being completed, the made to measure Allusion Blind by Brighter Blinds Ltd is now ready to be installed by our own dedicated installations team.
