Following on Brighter Blinds Ltd blog series of “How’s it Made?” we turn our attention to Vision Blinds.
Vision blinds are and ideal shading solution to any window, with the ability to control light and privacy whilst maintaining a truly fashionable yet timeless look.
Brighter Blinds Ltd manufactures made to measure Vision Blinds from our factory premises located at Brighter Blinds Ltd, Unit 1, Bolholt Works, Walshaw Road, Bury BL8 1DQ
So let’s go through the process once the order reaches production.
1 – Cassette, Barrel and Bottom Bar.
Similar to Roller Blinds we first need to select the correct diameter or aluminium roller barrel which our fabric will be loaded onto, this will depend on the weight of the overall blind and by selecting the correct diameter we cut down the risk of deflection in the fabric.
We then pick the correct colour of cassette and bottom bar according to the order, this can be in White, Black, Satin, Anthracite, Chrome or Cream. Once everything has been correctly selected, all parts are measured with relevant deductions being made to allow for control mechanisms and end caps.
These are then individually cut to size. The hardware is now ready for assembly.
2 – Fabric
Picking the ordered fabric from our stores and then counting the panels required before marking out ready for the first cut.
When making Vision Blinds there is usually twice as much fabric used than what would be required if making a standard roller blind.
Once the fabric has been measured it is then carefully folded along the width before being clamped in position prior to the first cut. Again here at Brighter Blinds Ltd we use a Crush Cut method when producing Vision Blinds which bonds the fibres of the fabric to create a fray free cut.
After the initial cut of fabric has been made to create the straight edge, we then cut along the sides to attain the required fabric size.
The fabric is now ready for assembly onto the hardware.
3 – Assembly
One end of the fabric is now loaded onto the roller barrel using Mylar fabric locking tape, the other end of the fabric is then loaded into the cassette this time using an aluminium locking tape, which securely holds the front of the fabric in position allowing for the Night and Day effect when operated.
The next stage is to insert the control units into the roller barrel this is now inserted into the cassette. Once this has been done the inner bar of the bottom bar is placed between the front and back of the fabric before carefully sliding the bottom bar over and securing in place with the bottom bar end caps.
4 – Testing and Inspection.
The made to measure Vision blind is then placed on the inspection hoist to check for any flaws, and if any adjustments are required. We then test the operation before adding the cassette end caps and packaging ready for installation.

The made to measure bespoke Vision blind is now ready for the in house installations team to install at the end users property.
